Honey Extraction Process

The hives have a "queen excluder" on them so the queen bee can only breed in the bottom "brood box" leaving the "supers" free to be filled with honey. These supers are removed and brought back and then have the wax uncapped, have the honey extracted which is then filtered, left to settle and then put in jars.

A frame of wax capped honey. The wax capping has to be removed to extract the honey...

Once the honey has been extracted by spinning the frames, it is poured into coarse filters...

The filtered honey drains into a settling tank where it stays for several days to allow all the air bubbles to rise to the surface before it is put in jars...
